Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home.
But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested — even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.
Here’s the teaser:
Paramount’s official synopsis reads:
“A mysterious lone fighter, known only as “Snake Eyes”, is welcomed into and trained by an ancient Japanese ninja clan called the Arashikage, but finds his loyalties being tested when secrets from his past are revealed, as he eventually goes on the path to become the famous G.I. Joe hero.”
It was announced in May 2018 that the next installment of the G.I. Joe franchise would be a prequel, chronicling the origins of the character Snake Eyes.
In December, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura stated that Ray Park, who had played the character in the previous films, would not reprise his role for this film. Robert Schwentke was set as director later that same month.
Starring alongside Golding is Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, Haruka Abe as Akiko, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, and Ursula Corbero as The Baroness, Tahehiro Hira, Iko Uwais, and Peter Mensah.
This new Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is a reboot of the G.I. Joe property and intended to be part of the shared universe based on Hasbro properties.
Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins opens in theaters on July 23rd.
