Smile doesn’t sound like a horror, but the trailer says otherwise.

The movies stars Sosie Bacon, daughter of Kevin Bacon, and Kyra Sedgwick, as:

“…a psychiatrist who, after a bizarre and traumatic event involving a patient, begins to experience terrifying occurrences that only she can see, and grows increasingly convinced that she’s being pursued by a malevolent supernatural force.”

I have to say, the trailer makes Smile look like The Ring. See something, have seven days to live and so on.

Smile has been written and directed by Parker Finn, based on a short film called Laura Hasn’t Slept, which won the Special Jury Recognition Prize in SXSW’s Midnight Short category. It’s the first big movie for Parker, but it looks like he’s got a handle on it.

Alongside Bacon, the movie stars Jessie T Usher, Kyle Gallner, Rob Morgan, Kal Penn, Caitlin Stasey, and Judy Reyes.

There’s not much information on the rest of the movie which is pretty refreshing. Usually, there’s so much out there about anything that comes out that it spoils the entire thing.

The official website for Smile, again, isn’t giving much away, apart from one banner headline that simply asks:

“What makes you Smile?”

I’m looking forward to this now. Smile will be released in theatres on 30th Sept this year.
