Working on Jessica Jones, Banshee and Succession has shown that SJ Clarkson knows how to find the money shot. Now it’s time to see if she can help Sony rise to the occasion and help their SPUMC flow.

The SPUMC (Sony Pictures Universe Of Marvel Characters) is Sony’s shot at creating a Marvel-type universe for themselves. They will dump their load of Marvel Characters in a series of releases.  These will be strung together, while having one eye on the main Marvel MCU with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man being the sticky tissue.

According to Variety the rumor is that this movie will be based on a character called Madame Web from the Marvel Comics.

Madame Web is as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis. This is a long-term neuromuscular disease that leads to varying degrees of skeletal muscle weakness. The most commonly affected muscles are those of the eyes, face, and swallowing. It can result in double vision, drooping eyelids, trouble talking, and trouble walking.

She was connected to a life support system that looked like a spider web. Because of this she was not active in fighting super-villains so it will be interesting to see how they tackle this.

There is no writer or cast attached yet. They appear to be looking for an A-list actor to join first then hire a writer to develop around that. Sony, ladies and gentlemen!

The project will join the two Venom movies plus Morbius in SPUMC, along with the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. As you will have seen if you watched the Morbius trailer to the end, Spidey is not the only character to bind the world’s together.
