Showtime has released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming cop-drama American Rust, starring Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney.
Based on Philipp Meyer’s debut novel, American Rust stars Daniels as the chief of police in a Rust Belt town in Pennsylvania who finds himself compromised and must decide how far he’ll go when the son of the woman he loves is accused of murder.

“American Rust is a compelling family drama and a timeless story of wanting a brighter future while being held prisoner by the past. The story of survival and transcendence is told through the eyes of Del Harris (Daniels), the complicated and compromised chief of police of a Pennsylvania Rust Belt town full of good people making bad choices. When news of a murder rips through the town, Harris must decide what lengths he is willing to take to protect the son of the woman he loves (Tierney).”
American Rust stars Emmy winner Daniels (The Newsroom) and Emmy nominee Tierney (ER), starring alongside them is Invoice Camp (The Queen’s Gambit), David Alvarez (West Facet Story), Alex Neustaedter (Colony), Julia Mayorga (It Is Decidedly So), Mark Pellegrino (LOST), and Rob Yang (The Resident).
American Rust is written and produced by Dan Futterman. Executive producers are Daniels, Michael De Luca, Adam Rapp, Paul Martino, Katie O’Connell Marsh for Boat Rocker Studios, and Elisa Ellis.
American Rust will consist of nine episodes and begins airing on Showtime on September 12th.
