When Robert Downey Jr was cast as Sherlock Holmes, it seemed like an odd choice, but throw in Guy Ritchie as director, and you had a decent movie. So much so, there was a sequel, A Game of Shadows.
Since then, fans have been asking about Sherlock Holmes 3 and rumors have done the round. It seems like Ritchie would like to make another one, but it’s all down to Downey Jr.
Let’s face it, Downey Jr doesn’t need to work another day in his life. He was the ultimate Iron-man and made more money than some small countries. However, he does seem to enjoy making movies, so maybe he would do Sherlock Holmes 3.
Ritchie spoke to Collider recently and was asked about Holmes 3 and he said it’s down to Downey Jr.
“Well, honestly, I left this up to Robert [Downey Jr.]. So Robert wanted to be in charge of this. The ball’s in his court, so he’s in charge of the script. He’s in charge of the whole thing. I’ve moonwalked out of that until there’s a time for me to get involved.”
Sherlock Holmes made over $500 million worldwide, with Game of Shadows making just over $500 million as well, so a third one would make sense and make it into a possible decent trilogy.
