In a new Peaky Blinders trailer, BBC One has teased the return of the beloved Alfie Solomons who is played by Tom Hardy.

The clip uses a “look who’s back” caption to tease the return of leading man Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy), who’s been absent from our screens since 2019.

Even though this is the final season, series creator Steven Knight already revealed the story will be finalized with a TV movie. and has also hinted that spin-off shows are in the works.

The teaser has yet to be officially released online and didn’t reveal too much about what might occur in the series, but Tommy is seen telling his old rival, Alfie:

“I think I may have written your final act.”

Also not on the clip is any indication of what will happen to the late Helen McCrory’s character, Polly Gray. McCrory died earlier this year after battling cancer. Knight revealed the next season will feature a tribute to the actor but hasn’t mentioned if she was able to film any scenes before her death, nor the fate of her character.

Here’s the teaser:

Jewish gang-leader Alfie has had rather an intriguing journey throughout his time on the show: after first appearing in the second series, he appeared to have been killed off in the series four finale – when he was shot in the face.

But he made an unexpected return towards the end of the fifth run, although it’s fair to say that he wasn’t exactly in the healthiest condition, so it will be very interesting to see what Tommy has in store for him.

The first 10-second teaser for the final series was released by the BBC last week, showing Tommy walking with great purpose, and revealing that the series would start in the early part of next year:

Peaky Blinders premiered on the BBC network in 2013 and has since become one of the most acclaimed shows in the last years. It was nominated for multiple BAFTA awards and features a recurring star-studded cast that includes names like Sam Neill, Anya Taylor-Joy, Annabelle Wallis, Adrien Brody, and Sam Claflin.
