It seems that Netflix are developing a Scott Pilgrim vs The World anime series for their streaming service, based on the comic-book created by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

O’Malley will be producing the series and would also write, alongside Ben David Grabinski, the pair would also serve as co-showrunners. Edgar Wright, who directed the original movie, will be an executive producer for the series.

Science SARU will be on top of the animation, they are known for things like Devilman Crybaby, Japan Sinks: 2020, Disney XD ID and a few others things I can’t say I have seen, but I’m keen too now.

The graphic novel follows Scott, a slacker and bassist, living in Toronto. He falls in love with a girl named Ramona Flowers, but to date her, he needs to defeat her seven evil exes. Six volumes of the graphic novel have been published, the last one in 2010.

The movie was released in 2010, starring Michael Cera as Scott, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona. The movie also starred Kieran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Allison Pill, Chris Evans, Jason Schwartzman and Brandon Routh. The movie is now considered a cult classic.

Netflix has announced a few other anime series, including The Terminator, Splinter Cell, Far Cry and Army of the Dead, which is all news to me, since I haven’t heard anything else about those series.

It seems strange to make an anime from Scott Pilgrim since the movie could be described as a ‘live-action comic book’. I know some aren’t fans, but it’s one of my personal favourites from Wright, the style and editing are great and it’s got a fun story to follow.

Are you in for an amine series of Scott?
