But Not How You Think

The re-make of Man In The Iron Mask just got its first trailer, titled The Iron Mask, it stars Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The movie’s subplot involves a Russian Tsar locked away in the Tower of London wearing an iron mask. The Tsar is locked up alongside Chan’s character, Master, who orchestrates an escape plan which results in coming head-to-head with Schwarzenegger’s prison guard character, James Hook.

However, neither Chan nor Schwarzenegger are the stars of the movie. In fact, they only appear during the Tower of London sequence. Largely, this movie is the story of cartographer Jonathan Green (Jason Flemyng, X-Men: First Class).

The story follows Green’s journey from England to China and his encounters with various characters and magical creatures along the way, including the mythical Dragon King. The movie also stars Charles Dance as Lord Dudley and the late, great Rutger Hauer in one of his final roles as an ambassador.

Oleg Stepchenko directed and co-wrote the film along with Dmitry Paltsev and Alexey A. Petrukhin.

It was originally supposed to be released back in 2018 but was shelved and it now has a tentative release date of April 2020.
