Sam Raimi has been very busy of late. He originally directed the three Toby Maguire Spiderman movies and was then asked to return to Marvel to direct the Dr. Strange sequel, Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for Marvel.
On top of directing, he’s also been busy producing movies. These are mostly horror movies since he knows a thing or two about the genre. The latest of these productions, called Umma, now has a trailer.
That looks pretty good. I actually thought that some of the photography looked a little like Raimi had directed himself, in a similar style to Evil Dead.
Umma means “mother” in Korean. Here is the blurb:
Amanda and her daughter living a quiet life on an American farm, but when the remains of her estranged mother arrive from Korea, Amanda becomes haunted by the fear of turning into her own mother.
It stars Sandra Oh, Dermot Mulroney, Odeya Rush, Fivel Stewart, Tom Yi, and MeeWha Alana Lee. Iris K Shim is the writer and director, who is pretty new on the scene, but seems to know what he’s doing.
Sony Pictures have also tweeted the poster.

The tagline is:
“A mother’s love never dies.”
Personally, I would have gone with “If it’s not one thing, it’s your mother”, but what do I know?
Umma will be released in theatres on 18th March.
