Remember when the Cold War was won by punching? So 80s! Such montage! Every time this movie is on, it perms hair and makes shoulder pads grow. And let’s be honest, Vince DiCola’s training montage music is on all of our running playlists, isn’t it?
Now Rocky Balboa himself, Sylvester Stallone, has confirmed that a director’s cut of Rocky IV is coming.
On Instagram chatting with fans Stallone was recently laying out how the extended cut of Rambo: Last Blood is a different, and much better, film than the theatrical cut. A fan asked about a directors cut of Rocky Balboa, the sixth movie in the franchise and the fourth of them that he directed. He responded:
“I am not doing that but I am doing a director’s cut on Rocky IV which will be amazing!!!!!”.
Rocky IV was the most cartoonish of the movies but it holds a special place in the hearts of many fans with the implausible amount of damage dished out in the various fights and a bad guy for the ages, Ivan Drago.
It is not clear which sections will be changed, and if this is a Stallone project of his own making, or if the studio has requested this.
