Sadly, readers, this is not a new episode of Rose And RoboCop, the best action pairing since Riggs and Murtaugh. Instead, this is a new RoboCop movie.

Lupita Nyong’o movie Little Monsters has been garnering strong reviews.  In the chair for that was Australian director Abe Forsythe.  He has now been locked at MGM for RoboCop Returns.

The project is being developed as a direct sequel to the original 1987 Paul Verhoeven film. All RoboCop sequels and reboots and the short-lived TV show will be ignored.

Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner, the screenwriters of the original, wrote a script some years ago.  Justin Rhodes delivered a recent rewrite, but as he was the writer behind Terminator: Dark Fate it is probably safe to assume further rewrites will be actioned, with Forsythe himself holding the pen.

Neumeier, Miner and Richard Suckle will produce.

Now, we mourn for RoboCop 2.
