Actress Margot Robbie continues to be in high demand. She is out and about to promote Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, she’s in pre-production on an Ocean’s Eleven prequel that she’ll both star in and produce, and she’s got the Barbie coming out next Summer. There will almost always be something Harley Quinn related just around the corner too, especially with the new DC plan looking like maintaining that universe.

It is not all upside for the star though. She has revealed that the female-centric Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off is dead. She was attached officially way back in 2020. While out doing promotion she confirmed this to Vanity Fair, saying:

“We had an idea, and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led – not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story – which we thought would’ve been really cool, but I guess they don’t want to do it.”

It was being written by Birds of Prey and Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson. It was said to be an all new series set in the same universe. Lots of this came about in the effort of the studio to seemingly distance itself from Johnny Depp in the wake of those allegations.

There is still life in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise yet. There is a reboot of the property currently in development with original writer Ted Elliott and Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin steering the ship. Original franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer is also onboard. I will now refrain from using anymore nautical terms.

Still, never mind. We’ll always have this:
