It seems only yesterday that we heard of Amazon reimagining 1989 cult classic Road House. It has already begun production in the Dominican Republic. The lead Jake Gyllenhaal and director Doug Liman posted for a photo from the first day on the set, a classic start of production image.

In the original Road House, James Dalton is a professional “cooler” with a mysterious past who is enticed from his job in New York City by Frank Tilghman to take over security at his own club, the Double Deuce, in Jasper, Missouri. Tilghman plans to invest substantial money into the club to enhance its image, and he needs a first-rate cooler to maintain stability. Handed control of all bar operations and hiring by Frank, Dalton fires multiple employees for theft and drug dealing.
Dalton is introduced to local business magnate Brad Wesley, who effectively controls the town and the two lock horns, developing into a deadly feud.
Patrick Swayze, Kelly Lynch, Ben Gazzara and Sam Elliot starred in the perennial “man” movie that gave us some of the cheesiest one-liners, including the timeless:
“I used to fuck guys like you in prison!”
In the remake Gyllenhaal stars as a former UFC fighter. He takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys. However, he soon discovers that everything is not as it seems in this tropical paradise.
Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, and Gbemisola Ikumelo co-star along with UFC champion Conor McGregor. Joel Silver, who produced the original, returns for the new take which hasn’t set a release date as yet.
Remember, pain don’t hurt!
