“Have You Ever Heard Of Mr. Jingles?”

The ninth season of American Horror Story, titled 1984, will focus on a horrific massacre at a fictional summer camp. The official trailer was just released yesterday, and we got our first taste of the plot, plus an introduction to the characters.

Here’s the trailer:

Similar to American Horror Story: Apocalypse, the new season will consist of ten episodes. And the new season will pay tribute to classic 80s slasher films like Friday The 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, and Billie Lourd, as well as newbies Gus Kenworthy and DeRon Horton, make a detour to an abandoned camp called Camp Redwood, and once there, the foursome learn about the legend of the sadistic Mr. Jingles — who just so happens to be back on the loose after escaping a nearby asylum.

This seems like it’ll be a simple, classic slasher/mystery season. But following the very dismal Apocalypse, it really needs to shine, though.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy will reunite with his former Glee star Matthew Morrison and Pose actress Angelica Ross, along with bringing back American Horror Story alums Leslie Grossman and John Carroll Lynch.

American Horror Story: 1984 premieres in the US on Wednesday, September 18 at 10pm ET, and on FOX and NOW TV in the UK. Catch up on series 1-6 on Netflix, with season 7 available to buy on Amazon Prime Video.
