Everybody’s favorite six-foot-five-inch wrecking machine is being rebooted. After the Tom Cruise movies saw the character of Jack Reacher retain most of the character’s attributes, excluding his height and his hair color, the upcoming Amazon series looks to be sticking more closely to the book’s depiction for Reacher.
Alan Ritchson was cast as the lead a while back. Now he is joined by Bruce McGill, Maria Sten, and Hugh Thompson. The first season will be based on Lee Child’s first Jack Reacher book – The Killing Floor.
Set in Georgia. McGill (Rizzoli and Isles) will play the mayor of the town of Margrave, called Teale. He is from old Southern money. Sten (Swamp Thing) will portray Frances Neagley. Neagley did not appear in the book, but over the course of the novels, she became one of Reacher’s most important allies on several adventures.
Neagley is a partner with a private security firm in Chicago. She is a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant where she worked as a Military Policeman. When Reacher first put together the U.S. Army 110th MP Special Investigations Unit, the unit he ran before he left the service, she was one of his first choices. In Night School, she is described as:
“The best soldier he had ever worked with. His best friend, possibly, in a guarded way, if friendship was permission to leave things unsaid.“
Thompson (Forgive Me) will play Baker, Margrave’s top cop. Amazon Studios, Skydance Television and Paramount Television Studios produce with the first season. The show will be written, executive produced, and showrun by Nick Santora.
The author Child, Don Granger, Christopher McQuarrie, Scott Sullivan, David Ellison, and Dana Goldberg make up the rest of the executive producer roster.
