Crom be praised! Rambo: Last Blood has been officially granted an R-rating.

Hot on the heels of a decent second trailer, the MPAA has confirmed this with some of our favourite words:

“…strong graphic violence, grisly images, drug use and language.”

R rated movies, especially in the action genre, seem to be a dying breed.  Studios push for four-quadrant appeal to drive box office at the expense of storytelling requirements.  Some things, however, are just meant to be visceral.  Rambo is one of them.

Sylvester Stallone was pushing for the hard R rating on social media during the making of the movie.  He did the same with John Rambo and that resulted in some glorious carnage.

PG-13 was imposed on The Expendables 3 and look what happened there.

Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adriana Barraza, Yvette Monreal, Genie Kim, Joaquín Cosío, Sheila Shah, Dimitri Vegas, Oscar Jaenada, and Louis Mandylor co-star in the film.

John Rambo single-handed Vs. an entire Mexican drug cartel. I can’t wait!  September 20th is in the diary.
