This is not a joke.  There is no need to check your calendars to see if you have accidentally slept to April 1st.  As Rachel Maddow said so famously on MSNBC a few years ago now:

“You’re awake by the way.  You’re not having a terrible, terrible dream. Also, you’re not dead and you haven’t gone to hell. This is your life now.”

Nothing new can be created, the old must just be reprogrammed.  When the appropriation has failed it will all be your fault as well!  The Ghostbusters 2016 defence will be deployed once more.

The latest old offering to be warmed over and relaunched as fresh and new due to different genitalia is The Equalizer.  Front and centre will be Queen Latifah, who is set to star as the lead in this reboot for Universal TV and NBC.

A pilot production commitment from CBS has been obtained and is described as a “reimagining” of the classic TV show.  Uh-oh.  It’s that word again.  Always a harbinger of doom.

The original series on CBS starred Edward Woodward and ran for four seasons between 1985 and 1989. Antoine Fuqua adapted it into two feature films starring Denzel Washington.

Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller (Castle) will writer, exec produce and showrun.  Latifah will also serve as an executive producer with John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase and Shakim Compere.
