This modern adaptation follows a graffiti artist, named Twist, who loses his way after his mother dies and finds himself wrapped up in a scheme to steal priceless artwork.
Michael Caine plays Fagin, one of the iconic characters from the original Oliver Twist. He enlists Twist and a group of vagabonds to help him steal a William Hogarth painting from his former art dealer boss… but this heist may not be as simple as they think.
Here’s the trailer for Twist:
The official synopsis for Twist reads:
“Inspired by Charles Dickens’ iconic novel Oliver Twist, this action-fueled crime-thriller in contemporary London follows the journey of Twist (Raff Law), a gifted graffiti artist trying to find his way after the loss of his mother. Lured into a street gang headed by the paternal Fagin (Caine), Twist is attracted to the lifestyle — and to Red (Sophie Simnett), an alluring member of Fagin’s crew. When an art theft goes wrong, Twist’s moral code is tested as he’s caught between Fagin, the police, and a loose-cannon enforcer (Lena Headey).”
Twist will mark the acting debut of Rafferty “Raff” Law, the eldest son of star Jude Law and starring alongside him and Michael Caine is Rita Ora, Sophie Simnett, Jason Maza, Franz Drameh, with David Walliams and Lena Headey.
Twist is directed by British filmmaker Martin Owen, director of the films L.A. Slasher, Let’s Be Evil, Killers Anonymous, and The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud.
The screenplay is written by John Wrathall and Sally Collett.
Twist already opened in the UK earlier this year. Saban Films will premiere the film in select US theaters and on VOD on July 30th.
