Emmy Award-winning Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin has been brought in to help reboot Pirates Of The Caribbean. He will work alongside long-time series writer Ted Elliott. Disney Pictures are going all in on this reboot.
Earlier drafts were created by Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. They exited this year. Their script, and any further developments by Mazin and Elliot are not expected to bring back Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
This raises questions as to whether you can even have Pirates Of The Caribbean without his character who was central too everything over six movies?
Elliott co-wrote the first four films with Terry Rossio. Before Chernobyl hit big and got rave reviews Mazin’s credits have mostly been sequels. Scary Movie 3 and 4, The Hangover 2 and 3, and the upcoming Charlie’s Angel’s reboot are all on his resume.
Jerry Bruckheimer will return as producer. No release date has been set.
