HBO Max has released a new series of posters for Peacemaker, the upcoming The Suicide Squad spinoff featuring John Cena in the title role.
While completing work on The Suicide Squad movie last year, James Gunn began writing a spin-off TV series centred on the origins of Peacemaker, portrayed by Cena. Gunn describes the character as:
“He is not an evil person, he’s just a bad guy. He seems sort of irredeemable in the film. But I think that there’s more to him. We didn’t get a chance to know him in the way we get to know some of the other characters. And so that’s what the whole show is about.”

The Peacemaker series will also feature Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, and Freddie Stroma. Like Cena, both Agee and Holland’s characters have also previously appeared in The Suicide Squad film.
Additional cast members for include Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale), Chukwudi Iwuji (The Underground Railroad), Annie Chang (Shades of Blue), Christoper Heyerdahl (Hell on Wheels, Supernatural), Elizabeth Faith Ludlow (The Walking Dead), Rizwan Manji (Goliath), Nhut Le (The Kroll Show) as DC hero Judomaster, Aison Araya (Arrow) as Amber, and Lenny Jacobson (Nurse Jackie) as Evan.
HBO will premiere the Peacemaker series streaming on HBO starting January 13th.
