An Oscar nominee is heading for Quahog. Sam Elliott will succeed the late Adam West as Mayor of Quahog in Family Guy.
He will play Mayor West’s brother, who’s first name is Wild. His middle name is also Wild.
West died in 2017, so in the show they had his character die too, and renamed James Woods High School to Adam West High School.
Executive producer Richard Appel broke the news in an interview with EW:
“In having a conversation about ‘How do you replace him?,’ the universal belief was: he’s irreplaceable. And then the next question is, ‘Do you find a new mayor?’ In the world of Family Guy, he had an important role, and a role that was necessary for a lot of stories. Sam has a voice that – obviously he’s a movie star but he also has a voice made for radio, and Sam Elliot quickly became our first choice.”
In the show Peter will become unhappy with the candidates and decide that the town needs a celebrity mayor. Family Guy returns September 27th.
