Ewan McGregor was out doing the rounds for the Netflix series Halston and appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Kimmel, of course, asked him about the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Among the details discussed was The Volume, the virtual sound stages used on The Mandalorian and now Obi-Wan Kenobi.
He’s very happy with the change-up from the prequels:
“Before [while shooting the prequels] we did months of blue screen and green screen acting. Now, we’ve got this extraordinary technology where you work inside of a big screen and the backgrounds are on there. It feels much more realistic.”
As expected with Star Wars, the actor was very tight-lipped about any other details, but he did mention his new costume and appearance for the show:
“It feels great. I have to say I’m having a really, really good time. The costume is probably slightly different than you might expect. But to go back into the role, shall we say, is great. It’s all still there. It feels great. There are some great scripts and great people to work with. It’s great. I’m having a good time.”
One big hint he dropped was that he will get:
“…to play a very special scene on May the 4th with someone very special in my life…”
He added it wasn’t anyone we’ve seen him on camera with before. Deborah Chow is directing the whole run, hoping to build on her episodes of The Mandalorian which were among the best in the two seasons.
