Indira Varma (Game Of Thrones) is joining the cast of the upcoming Star Wars spin-off series Obi-Wan Kenobi for Disney+. The British actress played Ellaria Sand in the HBO series, opposite The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal. She also appeared in Rome, Luther and Little Britain.
It is not yet confirmed who she will be playing. Filming is currently underway for the series that will star Ewan McGregor as Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi and is set after the prequels. It will follow Obi Wan in exile between between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, watching over young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine.
Hayden Christensen has previously been confirmed to be returning as Darth Vader, formerly Anakin Skywalker, student of Kenobi and now his enemy. Rumors are swirling that Christensen will play the majority of the role with the mask off, showing Vader’s face, burned and disfigured following his duel with Obi Wan on Mustafar.
This means he is unlikely to stray too far from a Bacta tank or some other form of life support. Does this mean we will mostly see Vader in command and hunting down surviving Jedi during his time on the show?
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but is expected in early 2022 on Disney+ as part of a growing Star Wars slate for the streaming service.
