Ridley Scott loves his historical epic movies, we’ve seen Gladiator, 1492: Conquest of Paradise, Kingdom of Heaven, Exodus: Gods and Kings, The Last Duel and Robin Hood. OK, so Robin Hood wasn’t exactly epic.
Well, Scott is now directing another historical epic, this time about Napoleon Dynamite, no, wait, Napoleon Bonaparte. He has cast Joaquin Phoenix as the man himself and here are some pictures of him in costume.
According to the reports, Phoenix is close to Napoleon’s height, since the French leader was only reported as 5 foot 2 inches. Would have thought Peter Dinklage would have been perfect for the role.
The movie was originally called Napoleon, but is listed as Kitbag on the IMDb, before it was reported in January that Scott had switched the titles back again, with the plot described as:
The film is an original and personal look at Napoleon Bonaparte’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine.
The title Kitbag refers to the old saying:
“There is a general’s staff hidden in every soldier’s kitbag.”
The expression means that is it possible for any soldier to become a general.
It stars Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby as Josephine. The production of the movie has just started in Greenwich, South East London, which is the image below.
There is no news on when Kitbag or Napoleon will be released.
