Daniel Radcliffe must be having the time of his life as an actor. He made mad money as a kid playing Harry Potter, and since then has just taken roles that are fun or interesting to him whether they are on stage or screen. Including playing Weird Al Yankovic. So he won’t feel any urge to return to Harry Potter just yet.

Which is just as well. Despite appearing in an HBO reunion special, and Harry Potter And The Cursed Child selling a ludicrous amount of theater tickets, Radcliffe has openly said he’s not really interested right now.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child is set nineteen years after Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. The cast is approaching the age of their characters in the stage play which has led to rumors of a return to the screen for the ex-Hogwarts pupils.

Radcliffe is about to chew the scenery as the villain in The Lost City, and was promoting that movie to The New York Times when the subject inevitably came up:

“This isn’t the answer that anybody’s going to want, but I think I was so able to go back [to film the HBO Max special] and enjoy it because it’s not a part of my day-to-day life anymore. I’m getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of Potter OK and I’m really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life.”

However, before the Hufflepuff’s among you start crying into your Butterbeer, he’s not saying he will never do it, and he cited Star Wars as an example:

“I’m never going to say never. The Star Wars guys had like 30, 40 years before they went back. For me, it’s only been 10. It’s not something I’m really interested in doing right now.”

Yes Daniel, and we all know how that turned out, don’t we? If they ever did make a continuation movie the financials for the three leads would be pretty staggering.
