This Is Not A Drill!
Nicolas Cage is in negotiations to star as himself in an upcoming film called The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent.
The meta-movie will include nods to a variety of Cage’s previous roles, including Leaving Las Vegas, Face-Off, and Gone In 60 Seconds.
The film would follow protagonist Nicolas Cage, an actor desperate to land a role in a Tarantino movie while simultaneously trying to manage a strained relationship with his teenage daughter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cage (the character) is described as someone who –
“occasionally talks to an egotistical 1990s version of himself, who rides him for making too many crappy movies and for not being a star anymore.”
To deal with his mountain of financial debt, Cage resorts to making a special appearance at a superfan’s birthday party, who conveniently happens to be a Mexican billionaire with hopes that Cage might take interest in a script he’s been working on. As Cage bonds with the billionaire, the CIA informs him that his #1 fan is actually a drug cartel kingpin who has kidnapped the daughter of a Mexican presidential nominee. The CIA enlists Cage for help, which turns into a spiraling situation involving lives at risk, and Cage taking on the role of a lifetime.
The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent will be scripted by Tom Gormican (That Awkward Moment), and Kevin Etten (Workaholics). Gormican is also set to direct the film.
