Nic Cage has had an interesting career and made some interesting movies. Recently, he has made movies like Colour Out Of Space, Mandy, Willy’s Wonderland and recently Pig.

His new movie, Prisoners of the Ghostland is in the realm of odd. Here is the trailer:

It looks like a romantic comedy. I love the quote from Cage himself:

“The wildest movie I’ve ever made.”

That is a pretty bold statement, especially if you have seen Willy’s Wonderland.

Prisoners of the Ghostland is directed by Sion Sono and written by Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai. It stars Cage, Sofia Boutella, Nick Cassavetes, Bill Mosely, Narisa Suzuki, Grace Santos, Canon Nawata and Tak Sakaguchi.

The score is by Joseph Trapanese, who scored The Raid: Redemption and Tron: Uprising.

The trailer explains most of the plot, but here are the details from IMDb:

A notorious criminal must break an evil curse in order to rescue an abducted girl who has mysteriously disappeared.

It’s a standard story, but the style of the movie looks unique. It is from the studio that made Mandy and Colour Out of Space, which, if you have seen, are both visually striking movies and not very ‘mainstream’.

Nic Cage will have bombs strapped to his balls on 17th Sept, when Prisoners of the Ghostland is released.
