Star Wars, are we ever going to see the end of it? Not with the way things are going at Disney. The new limited series of Obi-Wan Kenobi is on the way later this month and here is the newest trailer.
So basically, Darth Vader is in it. You remember the big bad guy, that we all used to love to hate? Well, he’s back. This series still has zero interest for me. I don’t think this trailer adds anything new to it. OK, so there is Vader, not being played by the impressive David Prowse, but instead being played by Hayden Christensen who seems to be taking direction to ‘Walk like Frankenstein’s monster’.
To balance off what might actually be pretty cool is the rest of the cast. I’m loving the look of this cool, diverse, young, diverse, female, diverse character.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan, he is perfect casting, but I fear this will be another series that tries to make something out of things we didn’t really need to know about, or see.
Solo I thought was a perfectly average movie, but I didn’t need to know about Han growing up. I was happy with the Han I met in A New Hope.
Boba Fett, on the other hand, is a series that was way below par. I grew up loving Boba as a character with about 6 lines in Star Wars. I didn’t need him turned into an old, fat man, with a heart of gold and a fetish for dancing around fires at night.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is due out on 27th May. I will be watching it, out of the small sense of duty I have left for Star Wars, but my expectations are so low.
