Movie Won’t Feature His Music

IFC Films has released the first trailer and poster for a Johnny Flynn-led biopic based on David Bowie called Stardust.

The film is directed by Gabriel Range, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Christopher Bell. The story begins in 1971 as a 24-year-old David Bowie (Flynn) is sent to the United States to promote his newest record an EP called The Man Who Sold the World.

The first screening recently took place at a socially-distanced opening night gala in London, with the film’s director Gabriel Range in attendance.

Bowie’s family have also distanced themselves entirely from the upcoming project. His son and Moon director Duncan Jones confirmed that Stardust is unauthorised and won’t feature any of his father’s music in it.

As per Variety, British distributor Vertigo Releasing has secured the UK rights to the film and will release it before the end of the year. This will follow its US debut, which is set to take place on November 25th.
