Marvel’s previous financial woes have left a complicated situation out there. Sony own Spider-Man and the SPUMC, needing a co-operative deal in place for the characters to appear in the MCU.

Fox owned distribution rights to X-Men, Fantastic Four, Daredevil and Elektra among others. Universal have their paws on the Hulk. East of the Mississippi the theme park rights to Marvel characters somehow ended up with Universal too. So the huge Walt Disney World has to look sadly across the swamp at characters Disney now own, having a great time over at Universal Islands Of Adventure. One of their greatest properties earning money for their local rivals. That must sting!

Meanwhile back West the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland, is still closed due to the unhappiness of a global pandemic.

That doesn’t stop the Imagineers though. In the West Disney can still leverage their property as much as they like. And boy, are they gonna leverage! After their decidedly mixed results with Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, primarily driven by Lucasfilm idiocy as far as we can tell, they will be hoping their new play is better received – Avengers Campus.

This new realm will be devoted entirely to the MCU in all it’s glory. At the center of this campus will be WEB – The Worldwide Engineering Brigade. In world this will be an initiative created by Peter Parker. Tom Holland himself will appear in and curate the ride at it’s heart. Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure.

It’s all currently under construction, and a Quinjet is already in residence.

The actor was one of the first people to experience the new ride and he gave it the highest compliment possible.

“It’s the most I’ve ever felt like Spider-Man. Everyone is going to get to share that experience, which is so awesome. I want to go and ride it again with all of the fans.”

Here is the first look at the experience direct from Disney.

The usual theme park ride scenario plays out. Peter is explaining how he’s invented a new piece of cutting-edge tech – the web-slinger vehicle. As you expect in a theme park ride:

“He’s giving the tour, and something goes wrong and he needs everybody to help him out to save the day.”

The actor describes the ride as spectacular and says he is blown away by the Imagineers efforts on the ride and the entire Avengers area. The area will also include Avengers Headquarters, the Collector’s Fortress – a re-themed Hollywood Tower Of Terror where Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! will live, and the Pym Test Kitchen.

For food, there will be a Shwarma restaurant too.
