(And An Update On Season 6)
During the Adult Swim Comic-Con @Home panel, Dan Harmon gave us a first look at the fifth season of Rick And Morty and provided updates on the sixth season.
The two-minute-long sneak peek opens with Morty carrying a heavily wounded Rick whilst escaping from a giant tentacled alien, only to be stopped by the mad genius who spots a parallel universe where the duo are Blade-style versions of themselves.
Here’s the clip –
Harmon revealed that for the first time ever, the show is actually ahead of schedule. Harmon said –
“We’re basically done writing it.”
“The only exception is I get on these Zoom edit sessions where we’re kind of finalizing the finale of Season 5. It’s a crazy situation to be in because this show has notoriously kept everyone behind schedule.”
Harmon also confirmed that making plans for season 6 over Zoom video calls is a frustrating process –
“People are staring at a screen, you kind of have to pay more attention to the endurance of the human brain. Good news is you can only go two hours at a clip. And during those two hours, […] you’ve to hunker down and go in a parliamentary procedure. Like ‘I’d an idea, I’d this,’ and it’s less about shouting and yelling and laughing and explosive bliss. That’s a bad thing. The irony is, it’s a very good thing democratically speaking. […] The material that’s coming out of it is as strong, if not better. The outlines are fantastic, it might be a little better, a little sooner.”
Adult Swim didn’t give a release date for Rick And Morty’s fifth season, we’ll let you know as soon as they do.
