Do you know what there hasn’t been enough of? Vampire TV series. There’s only True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, What We Do in the Shadows, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Originals, and more. That list doesn’t include the over-saturation of vampire movies as well.
It seems Netflix thought there is room for one more and announced a new vampire TV series called Fist Kill, which is out next month. If that isn’t exciting enough, it’s a “teen vampire” series, made for the modern audience.
First Kill is based on a short story by Victoria Schwab, who is also serving as creator, writer, and executive producer on the series. The new series stars Sarah Catherine Hook, Imani Lewis, Jonas Dylan Allen, Gracie Dzienny, Elizabeth Mitchell, and more.
The official blurb says:
“When it’s time for teenage vampire Juliette (Hook) to make her first kill so she can take her place among a powerful vampire family, she sets her sights on a new girl in town named Calliope (Lewis). But much to Juliette’s surprise, Calliope is a vampire hunter, from a family of celebrated slayers. Both find that the other won’t be so easy to kill and, unfortunately, way too easy to fall for…”
It’s being described as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Killing Eve”, because the last thing we all want right now is an original IP with its own ideas.
Some more details are:
“(Juliet) is a shy, kind teenage girl who was born a vampire and determined to not be a monster. Her family has always supported her but as she comes into her own, her quest for love is challenged by her legacy.
Lewis is playing Calliope “Cal” Burns, “a fearless, headstrong monster hunter. Behind that strong veneer is a vulnerable young teen torn between her duty to her family and the secret yearnings for love.”
Buzz words everyone, buzz words! There’s a red flag there. Netflix has released some images to really get the blood pumping.
First Kill will be streaming on Netflix 10th June.
