The DCEU is a franchise that just will not die, no matter how many self-inflicted wounds it deals with.  After languishing in development hell for what seems like a lifetime, and after getting through Directors like Jane Seymour gets through husbands, the latest installment might be finally moving forward in the form of The Flash.

IT Director Andy Muschietti has confirmed to Fandango that following IT: Chapter 2, his next project will be The Flash.

He was also asked if he’ll be bringing any horror to the story:

“An element of horror? I don’t think so. What captivated me about ‘The Flash’ is the human drama in it. The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]. It’s going to be fun, too. I can’t promise that there will be any horror [elements in it], really, but it’s a beautiful human story.”

He was also asked about the possibility of a third IT chapter that explores the story behind the realms of the novel, however, he admits there are zero plans for such a possibility at present:

“There is a whole mythology to the book though. Mythology is something that always has opportunities to explore. It has been on Earth for millions of years. He’s been in contact with humans for hundreds of years, every 27 years. So you can imagine the amount of material. It’s always exciting to think of eventually exploring this mythology. But, for now, there’s nothing on the table.”

IT: Chapter Two hits cinemas next Friday. The Flash film presently doesn’t have a release date.
