These Quibi guys aren’t messing around. They are coming, and they are coming hard. There is some serious talent playing in their pool. Hot on the heels of their Fugitive remake, another kind of man-hunt will hit that’s very small screen that Quibi is focussed on.
The Most Dangerous Game (also published as The Hounds of Zaroff in some countries) is a short story by Richard Connell. It first hit stands in 1924.
It is the tale of a big-game hunter from New York who falls off a yacht and swims to what seems to be an isolated island in the Caribbean, where he is hunted by a Russian aristocrat who lives there and enjoys hunting the cleverest, most adaptable, most dangerous game there is… man.
The story has been adapted numerous times, most notably as the 1932 RKO Pictures film The Most Dangerous Game, starring Joel McCrea and Leslie Banks.
The forthcoming short-form version on mobile streaming service Quibi will star Liam Hemsworth and Christoph Waltz.
As a last resort he accepts an offer to participate in a deadly game with a $24.5 million prize, only to discover that he’s not the hunter, but he is the prey.
Billy Burke, Natasha Bordizzo, Aaron Poole, Christopher Webster, Zach Cherry and Sarah Gadon co-star.
Quibi will launch on April 6th 2020.
