We’ve had a couple of articles about Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese’s new Western which he’s making for Apple Films.
It seems that Flower Moon is described as the most ambitious project Scorsese has taken on to date. The estimated cost is $200 million at the moment. Scorsese has made an official statement about the movie:
“We are thrilled to finally start production on ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ in Oklahoma. To be able to tell this story on the land where these events took place is incredibly important and critical to allowing us to portray an accurate depiction of the time and people.
We’re grateful to Apple, the Oklahoma Film and Music Office and The Osage Nation, especially all our Osage consultants and cultural advisors, as we prepare for this shoot. We’re excited to start working with our local cast and crew to bring this story to life on screen and immortalize a time in American history that should not be forgotten.”
The newest member of the cast is Brendan Fraser. Fraser is having a bit of a come-back this year. Due out is The Whale by Darren Aronofsky, a story about a reclusive English teacher suffering from obesity who tries to reconnect with his daughter. Also, Behind the Curtain of Night by Dalibor Stach and Brothers by Max Barbakow.
Fraser was sexually assaulted in 2003 by somebody in Hollywood. This didn’t come to light until the 2018 #MeToo campaign. The assault, subsequent divorce, and then the death of his mother sent him into a spiral of depression. On top of that, since he spoke out about his assault there was a huge backlash in the industry. He was not able to work, even if he wanted to.
With the new productions he’s involved with, it seems like he’s back on his feet and hopefully fighting fit. His previous efforts such as The Mummy movies, George of the Jungle, Looney Tunes Back in Action, and Gods and Monsters to name a few, always did quite well and fans seemed to love him.
Killers of the Flower Moon has been filming since April this year. There is no news on a release date yet.
