The original Monkey Island games were a 1990s point and click sensation. They were also probably just as responsible for the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies as the ride was. The mix of high seas high jinx, comedy and supernatural piracy with a young “apprentice” trying to woo somebody above his station while a grizzled pro helped him fight a ghostly pirate… it all seems so familiar!

The well regarded PC and Commodore Amiga versions sold well and won awards. Co-creators Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman spun up a sequel to The Secret of Monkey Island, called Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge just a year later.

Then they both left LucasArts while that company had yet another of its well publicised foot shooting exercises. Curse of Monkey Island, Escape from Monkey Island, and Tales of Monkey Island were made without them, although they had minor input into the 5th game from TellTale.

This time they are both back and Gilbert has been leading secret develop, ent for over two years. They are even bringing back Dominic Armato as the voice of star and lead Guybrush Threepwood.

The game will ignore the 3rd to 5th entries and carry on from where part 2 left off, as Threepwood continues his quest to become the most notorious pirate in the Caribbean, romance Elaine Marley and defeat the evil ghost pirate LeChuck.

A new teaser has been created to announce the game.
