Whatever happens in Mission: Impossible 7, we know the Mission: Impossible franchise is coming to an end.
The two-part finale of Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 are being filmed almost back-to-back. The plans were disrupted by COVID-19 and there will now be a small break between them.
It is a safe bet that Ethan Hunt’s IMF team will be disavowed, forced to go rogue, and eventually gain a vital clue through the medium of wearing a rubber mask and pretending to be someone else. There will also be some choppy-handed running, and there is required to be some form of heist or infiltration scene involving whatever extreme sport Tom Cruise is into this month.
That’s just how it works. He never phones it in, and never brings anything less than his A-game. He just repeats it… a lot.
The cast is growing and growing for the swansong of the IMF. Director Christopher McQuarrie announced on Thursday via Instagram that many more are joining the cast.
Cary Elwes (Saw, Days Of Thunder), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones, Carnival Row), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2, Catastrophe), Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Game of Thrones) and Charles Parnell (The Last Ship, All My Children) are all in.
Almost all of them are UK-based, which makes sense as the Mission: Impossible movie is now finishing up filming in London after a globetrotting shoot that was altered by the pandemic, and possibly by Cruise’s well-publicized on-set outburst.
All five appear to be part of some kind of security briefing scene. Highly probable to be the type of briefing where a lot of people wonder what can be done to bring their errant, disavowed agent to heel. Or how to kill him.
This is a random idea guys, and I am just spit-balling here, but given his pretty impressive record of saving the day, saving the mission, and saving the world even when disavowed, how about you give him ten minutes? See what he is up to?

A November release is still on the cards, with a Paramount+ release likely if the theatre numbers haven’t recovered post-COVID.
Tom Cruise, Vanessa Kirby, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett, Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Pom Klementieff and Hayley Atwell all form the main cast.
