It has been a long time coming, but He-Man returns! Netflix and Kevin Smith are bringing Eternia back. Now the Netflix Geeked Week event has had an exclusive and revealed the first official teaser trailer Masters of the Universe: Revelation. This animated sequel will also get an aftershow.
The new series, from long-timer fan Smith, is said to pick up where the 1980s animated show left off. So don’t expect Gwildor, a Cosmic Key, or a strangely sexy Evil-Lyn.
Master Of The Universe: Revelation has a stacked voice line-up. Chris Wood (Prince Adam / He-Man), Mark Hamill (Skeletor), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Teela), Lena Headey (Evil-Lyn), Alicia Silverstone (Queen Marlena), Henry Rollins (Tri-Klops), Steven Root (Battle Cat), Alan Oppenheimer (Moss-Man), Griffin Newman (Orko), Jason Mewes (Stinkor) and Justin Long (Roboto) are just the start.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation will run for five episodes initially and bring us what is billed as:
“The war for Eternia begins again in what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor. A new animated series from writer-director Kevin Smith.”
Here is the teaser.
He-Man and the accompanying Masters of the Universe franchise would make their debut in 1981 with Mattel’s release of the original Masters of the Universe 5.5-inch action-figure toy line. Masters of the Universe also featured in mini-comics that accompanied the toys throughout the 1980s. These initial mini-comics were soon followed by several children’s books and issues of DC Comics.
The characters would become best known through Filmation’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series that premiered in the fall of 1983. It ran for 130 episodes over two seasons until November 1985.
and that show’s 25-minute aftershow will debut on July 23rd.
