It is no secret that Marvel’s Phase 4 has not been all it could have been. The post Avengers: Endgame malaise has been hard to shake. It has felt like it is treading water and, at best, laying groundwork for what is to come. It hasn’t helped that a lot of the focus has felt away from the big screen on Disney+ shows. However is all that about to change? Have Marvel signed up some big guns to give Phase 5 and beyond some gravitas?
You know the drill Outposters. If something is purely internet scuttlebutt and not in the trades or confirmed by a rep, it is still interesting but we have to give it one of these:
These latest rumors come from “Entertainment Insider” Emmet Kennedy and they talk about some big names in the world of entertainment coming to the rescue of Marvel.
Last year it was reported that Marvel were keen on Henry Cavill. With his relationship with Warner Bros. souring after they unceremoniously dumped him as Superman without really commenting. They signalled intent by pursuing JJ Abrams wildly unpopular plans. Cavill was seen at Marvel’s London offices with his reps, leading to wild speculation he was signing up to the MCU.
According to Kennedy it is a done deal, and Cavill is being joined by seven more actors and actresses. These include John Boyega, Jodie Comer, and Daisy Edgar-Jones.
John Krasinski remains on-board apparently, after his cameo in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. The even bigger news is apparently the signing of Giancarlo Esposito, and Denzel Washington.
I’m reliably informed that Marvel Studios have signed epic talent for Phase 5

Rumors on the internet, which we all know are always absolutely true and never completely made up, are that Esposito wants to play Professor X in the relaunched X-Men and that Washington will play Ben Grimm in Fantastic Four.
President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, is expected to be making some big announcements at D23 Expo 2022 which will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center September 9-11.
Internet smoke? Or solid possibility?
