Some Marvel leaks have allegedly revealed some upcoming cameos in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Usual health warning on these. They are appearing on the sites, and attributed to the usual sources, that require one of these:

We can’t really speak to the veracity of these alleged breaking stories. That said, these are the same people who told us over a year ago that multiple versions of Spider-Man were coming and that the Netflix shows would be re-integrated into the MCU, including Matt Murdock appearing as a lawyer. So we can’t be too judgy.

Anyway, as usual, we expect our Outposters will approach these Marvel rumors with the same level-headedness and focus on reality we have come to expect. Ultimately, you can decide. First up…

The Return of Tony Stark

A plot description of the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel suggests anything might be possible. According to the IMDb:

“Dr. Stephen Strange casts a forbidden spell that opens the door to the multiverse, including an alternate version of himself, whose threat to humanity is too great for the combined forces of Strange, Wong, and Wanda Maximoff.”

Strange will traverse the multiverse, and the opportunity will be taken to introduce new characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Fantastic Four and X-Men are strongly rumored, or at least assumed by fans.

The big rumor out there is that Strange will encounter an alternate version of Tony Stark, and that version will be a cameo played by none other than Tom Cruise. This is notable because Cruise was apparently very interested in signing on as Stark before the role went to Robert Downey Jr.

So it is just a bit of fun and a nod to that. So far, so believable, right? Well, that was until this happened:

I mean, it could be him. It could also be a Mario impersonator or Ron Jeremy after months of prison food. We will leave it up to you, our Outposters, to be the judge. Next up…

The New Wolverine

Just like Cruise as Stark, this one has been rumored before but now the usual suspects are adding more fuel to the fire. That rumor? That Taron Egerton is going to be the new Wolverine. What has reignited this rumor?

Egerton has been doing television work and voiceover work for Sing 2. There was nothing on his dance card that indicated the need for serious bulking up but he has been hitting the gym big time to build that bulk with fans having no idea why. Then he posted this on social media as part of a series of joke birthday posts to his director friend Dexter Fletcher:

Building width-based bulk and growing his hair out? Those who speculate are now joining the dots and saying he’s prepping for his bow as the world’s most violent Canadian.

Egerton has already received a big boost for the role, as director Matthew Vaughn put his weight behind Egerton in an interview. Vaughan has worked with Egerton in the Kingsman series and also has previous in the X-Men universe via First Class so he has influence. He said, simply:

“I think Taron [Egerton] could do it in his sleep.”

So these are the rumors that are out there gathering pace. Dodgy leaks and fan wishes? Or something to ponder?
