The Mandalorian has shocked most people, mainly because it was Star Wars by Disney and good! The other main controversy was with Gina Carano being fired.

You can’t have missed it all, but if you have. Carano, who played Cara Dune in the show, was fired after her old offensive social media posts resurfaced online.

The production company behind Star Wars, said in a statement that the posts were:

“abhorrent and unacceptable…”

And made it clear that:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.”

Disney’s Bob Chapek said that the decision to drop Carano was Disney ‘standing for values’. HA! Carano later confirmed the details and had also been dropped by her Hollywood representation at the United Talent Agency.

There was speculation that Lucy Lawless might have taken over the role of Dune in Mando, but Lawless has said that this wasn’t the case. She wouldn’t have taken on the Cara Dune, because she had been in talks about a different production in the Star Wars universe. Lawless told Metro:

“I was already in discussions about something on – it wasn’t The Mandalorian – something Star Wars-affiliated.”

“It might have hurt me in some way, because then they couldn’t hire me because it would seem to be pandering to… I’m just guessing here, I don’t know anything, but in some ways, it can be unhelpful, because if they pander to this fan group, then how are you going to pander to every other fan group, do you know what I mean?”

Lawless feared she would have become a political choice by the producers and casting directors. She added:

“But that’s the way the world is and they meant it out of love, and I thank the fans for their fealty to me.”

“I haven’t thought about that since, so it hasn’t given me any pain, but that was my thought at the time, like, ooh, this makes me look like a political appointment, and not an actress.”

So, at the moment, there is no news on if Cara Dune will return at all, to Mando or the Book of Boba Fett.

Speaking of The Book of Boba Fett, it has a release date. It will start streaming on 29th Dec 2021.

It has been kept under wraps and the only cast members confirmed are Temuera Morrison playing Fett and Ming-Na Wen back playing Fennec Shand.
