I’m still waiting for a robot that will do the cooking and cleaning, but not moan as much as the wife. A robot that would protect you would be cool, so maybe M3GAN could help out?
The one thing about robots is, a lot of them are set to evil.
M3GAN seems to be an exception, she seems like a nice AI doll to help out with a young girl’s trauma, only to go on a murderous rampage. Isn’t that always the case? The official blurb on the movie is:
“M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma, M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to.
When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady, Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.”
“Unimaginable consequences”, it seems like the trailer is giving away what’s going to happen. The robot seems good but goes bad, like in a lot of other movies you could mention.
M3GAN stars Violet McGraw, Amie Donald, Jenna Davis, Allison Williams, Ronny Chieng, Natasha Kojic, and Brian Jorden Alvarez. It’s directed by Gerard Johnston, with the screenplay by Akela Cooper, and produced by James Wan.
According to reports the studio is so pleased with the movie that they are planning a sequel, because, let’s face it, you can’t make too many original IPs these days. You need to start churning out the sequels. Wan has said about a potential sequel:
“Well, my answer to that is I am very superstitious, and I don’t like to talk about sequels before the first film is even out. But like any of the movies I make, I always think of a bigger world. I don’t just think of that one story; I think of the bigger world. So if we’re fortunate enough to tell any other stories, we can pull from the bigger world.”
M3GAN will be in cinemas on 6th January. Now… try and discuss this movie without using the word groomer or anything like it. Go!
