Everyone’s favorite writer, Damon Lindelof is writing a top-secret Star Wars movie. So top secret in fact, that everyone seems to have known about it since March

Sources at Deadline now saying that progress has been made and not only is Damon working on this but Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has been set as a director.

Sharmeen is a two-time Oscar winner for her work on the documentary shorts Saving Face and A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness. She recently directed several episodes of… Ms. Marvel. Oh crap!

Ms Marvel

Lindelof is a divisive figure for you Outposters. Personally, I don’t mind his work and have said many times I like LOST, The Leftovers, and yeah, I enjoyed Prometheus too. However, I know there is a flip side and his “reimagining” of Watchmen and Star Trek makes some people’s piss boil.

Lost

His work seems to be much more slow-paced, which makes me wonder if Andor is going to set the tone for his new Star Wars movie?

As much as I’m enjoying Andor and the different tone to the usual pew, pew, pew, and the swooshing of laser swords that we’ve grown up loving, I know there are many of you that are not impressed.

I’m not sure I want to see a slow-paced Star Wars on the big screen. Andor is fine for the small screen but as a movie and a spectacle, I want me some of those damn laser swords!

Andor

Star Wars hasn’t been at the cinema since 2019’s The Rise Of Soywalker. We’ve had Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron grounded. Taika Waititi’s Star Wars seems to have gone awfully quiet since Thor Love And Thunder was revealed to the world, and let’s not forget Rian Johnson’s trilo… I can’t. I can’t even finish that sentence of hilarity!

So as it stands, an unnamed Star Wars movie is slated to open in December 2025 and all indications are that it will be Lindelof’s, providing the franchise doesn’t manage to implode over the next few years.
