A couple of weeks ago we brought you a story that Jared Leto wasn’t happy with the new Joker movie and it had left him feeling alienated and upset.
Now it turns out it could be worse. Much worse! According to a report at Heat Vision he went further than that.
The Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad was apparently so upset with Phillips’ film that he got his agents involved. Leto was represented at the time by CAA, who also looked after Joker director Phillips. When the project was still only on the drawing board Leto pressured CAA to kill the project stone dead. According to Heat Vision:
“Sources say the actor felt his agents should have told him about the Phillips project earlier and fought harder for his version of Joker. Sources say Leto told his agents that they should stop the rival project, arguing that he wasn’t being treated properly as an Oscar winner.”
Leto is working with Warner Bros. on upcoming Denzel Washington movie The Little Things, And has expressed an interest in playing the character again so this hasn’t completely ruined any relationships. Leto did leave CAA over the summer but this was apparently unrelated.
While a hand drawn sketch of him as the Joker appears in the Birds Of Prey trailer, he is not expected to appear in The Suicide Squad, James Gunn’s reboot/reset/sequel.
Gunn was recently asked by a fan if Joker will be in The Suicide Squad and responded:
“No one but me and a few others know all the characters in the movie, but if the Joker isn’t in the film, I don’t think it would be strange as he isn’t a part of the Suicide Squad in the comics.”
If anyone else knows what the hell is going on with the DCEU can they let Warner Bros. know as they clearly need help.
