Nick Stahl (Terminator 3, Sin City) has joined the cast of Let The Right One In. This is a series adaption on Showtime of the Swedish novel and film of the same name.
Let the Right One In (Swedish: Låt den rätte komma in) was a 2004 Swedish horror novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist that was adapted into a much-lauded 2008 movie of the same name.
That was directed by Tomas Alfredson and told the story of a bullied 12-year-old boy who develops a friendship with a strange child in Blackeberg, a suburb of Stockholm, in the early 1980s. That strange child turns out to be a vampire, forever locked in the body of a 12-year old girl despite being much older.
Let The Right One In is on many horror fans’ “Must-See” list. It won several awards, including the Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as four Guldbagge Awards, including Best Director for Alfredson, Best Cinematography for Van Hoytema, and Best Screenplay for Lindqvist. It also won the Saturn Award for Best International Film and the Empire Award for Best Horror Film. At the 63rd British Academy Film Awards, the film was nominated for Best Film Not in the English Language.
Let The Right One In was remade in 2010 by then novice director Matt Reeves (Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, The Batman). The excellent and faithful remake – titled Let Me In – put Reeves on the map as a director.
The story for the series will follow Mark (Demian Bichir) and his daughter Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez) whose lives were changed forever ten years earlier when she was turned into a vampire.
She lives a closed-in life going out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to survive.
Stahl will play Matthew. According to the casting notice, he is a former soldier and fiercely loyal fixer for the Logan family whose mild manner hides savagery underneath.
