Premieres This Month On Disney+
Yesterday morning Disney+ released a trailer giving folks a first look at the upcoming Lego Star Wars Holiday Special.
Following in the footsteps of the original special set in the Star Wars universe, this new animated production celebrates Life Day.
Here’s the trailer –
The original Star Wars Holiday Special aired on American TV in 1978 and was a bizarre mix of live-action and animation that saw Han and Chewie visit Kashyyyk (the Wookie homeworld) to celebrate Life Day.
The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special follows Rey and BB-8 who after finding a Sith Holocron, or some other kind of crystal, begin a journey through time, meeting characters from throughout the timeline.
The official synopsis reads –
“Directly following the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” Rey leaves her friends to prepare for Life Day as she sets off on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At a mysterious Jedi Temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films. But will she make it back in time for the Life Day feast and learn the true meaning of holiday spirit?”
A handful of Star Wars actors have returned to voice their characters, including Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, and Anthony Daniels as C-3PO. Plus, The Clone Wars actors Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), Tom Kane (Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Dee Bradley Baker (Clone Troopers).
The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special will be released on Disney+ on November 17th.
