Big casting news this morning. Big Little Lies and Fantastic Beasts alumni Zoe Kravitz, daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, has reportedly been cast as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
The Wrap broke the story, but details are limited.
Rumors are that the story will be adapted from The Long Halloween graphic novel. Robert Pattinson will play Bruce Wayne/The Batman in the film. The tone is expected to be noir detective, and will not be an origin story. Instead it will focus on Batman early in his career. This aligns witone than previous incarnations of the character. The project is NOT an origin story, but will be set in Batman’s early days. Fans of the story will know what an integral part Catwoman is.
If this is true then it will be a murder mystery with a large number of the rogues gallery present including the Penguin, The Riddler, The Mad Hatter, The Joker And, eventually, Harvey Dent.
Kravitz reportedly beat Ana de Armas, Ella Balinska and Eiza Gonzalez for the part.
Filming is expected to begin at the end of this year for a June 2021 release.
