Actor John Krasinski has shut down rumors that his time in the MCU goes beyond his cameo appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He was a multiverse version of Reed Richards AKA Mr Fantastic.
He was out doing the rounds ahead of Jack Ryan season 3, which is released on Amazon Prime on 21st December, and he said he’s one and done in the guest role:
“There aren’t any discussions at all, the only discussion I had was actually in the second-to-last week of ‘Jack Ryan’. Kevin Feige called and said would you ever fly to L.A. and play in our sandbox for a day?
I was honored to do it. I flew right from Budapest when we wrapped and went right to the ‘Doctor Strange’ set. I’m a big fan of all those characters and that world, so to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill.”
This multiverse version of the character id not come off well against an enraged and unstable Wanda Maximoff. However, Krasinski and his partner Emily Blunt have always been fan favorites for the roles of Reed and Sue Storm. It seems like now it will just be a fan wish and the MCU will be going in another direction.
WandaVision director Matt Shakman is onboard to direct Fantastic Four and, with the movie set for February 2025, casting is likely already underway. The next phase of the MCU kicks off shortly with Ant-Man And The Wasp which will introduce a new big-bad in the form of Kang The Conqueror. Kang had a historical tie to Reed Richards in the comics that may, or may not, make it into the movie version of Fantastic Four.
