Eggsy himself, Taron Egerton, has given an update on the status of the long-awaited Kinsgman sequel. Appearing on the Sirius XM show, Egerton confirmed that Kingsman 3 is in the works and will start production as soon as 2023.

I loved both the Kingsman movies but I’m yet to watch the prequel The Kings Man. I’d welcome a third to round off Eggsy’s story. However, before you head off to the comments section to tell me how excited you are for this too, Egerton has a word of warning.

“We do have a script. My understanding is that we are to be shooting the third instalment in my saga I believe next year. But you know, don’t listen to what I say because I don’t really know. You know, they’re grown-up decisions.”

So that’s as clear as mud. Moving on.

Kingsman

The upcoming sequel is called Kingsman: Blue Blood and Matthew Vaughn will continue to serve as the series director and co-writer.

Blue Blood was supposed to be shot back-to-back with the recent prequel, The Kinsgman but the ‘Rona put that plan up in the air. Vaughn has teased certain details about Kingsman 3, revealing that it will centre on the relationship between Eggsy and Harry.

“Eggsy and Harry will be in it, obviously, but it’s the gang coming back together and it’s one of those moments that…when we wrote the screenplay, it was very much about, okay, I saw how people loved the relationship of Eggsy and Harry.

So we just came up with this thing, what could be the ultimate reason for them to either fall in love or to hate each other forever? So that’s what this movie is all about is will they or won’t they, let’s just say.”

Wait, what? Fall in love with each other?! Don’t you dare do it Vaughn, don’t you fucking dare!

Eggsy and Harry

The first movie came out way back in 2014 and the movies are based on the comic series of the same name, which began with the 2012 comic book The Secret Service. Two sequels, The Big Exit and The Red Diamond, followed in 2017 and 2018 respectively. The series was initially known as The Secret Service before being rebranded after the first Kingsman film’s release.

The series was created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. It is set in Millar’s shared universe, known predictably as the Millarverse. For example, the celebrity kidnappings that take place in Kingsman Vol. 1 are referenced in Kick Ass: The Dave Lizewski Years Book Four.
