It looks like Kevin Spacey is making a comeback in a new production called The Man Who Drew God or L’uomo che disegnò Dio, which is heading to the big screen.

He will be playing a detective who investigates a wrongly accused pedophile. L’uomo che disegnò Dio is being directed by Franco Nero and written by Lorenzo De Luca, based on a story by Eugenio Masciari. Alongside Spacey, it will star, Vanessa Redgrave, Robert Davi and Stefania Rocca.

The movie will be the first time Spacey has been seen on the big screen since his career collapsed after a string of sexual misconduct allegations were made against him in 2017. He has denied all the allegations and last year compared his situation to that of workers who had been laid off due to the Covid19 pandemic.

He spoke to Bits & Pretzels podcast, saying:

I don’t often like to tell people that I can relate to their situation because I think it undermines the experience that they may be having which is their own unique and very personal experience.

I don’t think it will come as a surprise for anyone to say that my world completely changed in the fall of 2017. My job, many of my relationships, my standing in my own industry were all gone in just a matter of hours. But in this instance I feel as though I can relate to what it feels like to have your world suddenly stop. And so while we may have found ourselves in similar situations, albeit for very different reasons and circumstances, I still believe that some of the emotional struggles are very much the same.

And so I do have empathy for what it feels like to suddenly be told that you can’t go back to work or that you might lose your job and that it’s a situation that you have absolutely no control over.

He is also working on a movie for Netflix. Gore is about a young man who spends his summer in Italy, where he meets his idol Gore Vidal, played by Spacey, who teaches him about life, love, and politics.

Gore is being written and directed by Michael Hoffman and stars Michael Stuhlbarg, Douglas Booth, and Freya Mavor. It was originally planned a long time ago, but with the allegations, it was originally canceled but has now completed production, with no release date yet.

Does this mean that the past is the past and he will be back and make more movies?

L’uomo che disegnò Dio has a release date of Oct 2021 in Italy, with no news of the rest of the world. (RELATED: Kevin Spacey’s Christmas Message)
